Book Orders

The joy of book orders is hard to match!  I get all tingly when I send pass them out to students and we spend a good half hour going through the order forms, making our wishlists.  The day the box arrives with our brand-new books is such a happy day, and I relish passing them out and entering our new titles into the classroom library spreadsheet.

If you have any helpful letters or forms that you send home with your book orders, let us know.  This is a sample letter that I staple to order forms for parents, offering to make a list of books at their child's reading level.  I also offer to play 'Santa' at the holidays, or even birthdays, if they want to place a secret order.  Any help you can give your parents will pay off in more orders, which equals more free books for your classroom.

Also check to see if there is a Scholastic Book Warehouse in your area.  I always spend way too much money at them, but they are AMAZING.  The books are deeply discounted, and they often have an aisle where it's fill a bag for $5.  This is a great place to go if you want to pass out books to your students for Christmas, or build a classroom library.  I found some great dictionaries I had been eyeing at the book fair (full price) for about 70% off.
