First Six Weeks of School

This book does the amazing task of walking you through the first six weeks of school, complete with morning meetings, guided discoveries and team-building games/activities.  Take a look at the resources below and use them to create a sense of community without the sweat and hassle of planning it yourself!

Goals:
* Create atmosphere of warmth and trust
* Give children many opportunities to model and practice expected routine and behaviors
* Create safe environment for risk-taking
* Help children feel they belong and are contributors
* Nurture independence and responsibility with each other and materials
* Excite and motivate children to learn

* Allow teacher to informally assess academic skills
* Introduce learning goals through simple projects and tasks that allow for success
